Now is the time to start curating the perfect playlist in preparation for next year’s Spotify Wrapped and this year’s Sugar Hill Live On Stage concert series. You sift through song after song, skipping the ones that are always on the radio because this spring calls for something different. Something that reminds you of The Bowl at Sugar Hill. If you check out The Bowl’s previous concert lineup, you’ll see some big names and it’ll remind you of songs you forgot you once loved or you’ll discover songs that you’ll soon become obsessed with.

Creating a playlist takes time, a bit of concentration and a lot of dancing and singing alone like no one’s watching. Let’s start with naming the playlist. Maybe something like, ‘The Sweet Life’, because that’s exactly what it’s going to be once you put in your headphones and start jamming to this perfectly curated playlist that reminds you of everything Sugar Hill, past and present.

Now that we have a name, it’s time to start adding songs. The goal is variety: a diverse playlist with different artists, genres, instruments and beats with a splash of sugar.

Our playlist includes:

Judy Garland – Over The Rainbow. Straight from The Wizard of Oz and from the year 1939. Maybe the song was written about Sugar Hill? After all, instead of a tornado that came through our city, it was a traveling wagon that lost a wheel spilling sugar across a hill in our city.

The Mavericks – Dance The Night Away. Just like the song suggests, dancing the night away is exactly what we want to do on June 10 when The Mavericks come back to The Bowl for the first time since 2016.

Colbie Caillat – Bubbly. She performed this song at The Bowl in 2018 and we want to feel like it’s 2007 all over again. A throwback to when the first-generation iPhone came out.

Pat Benatar – Hit Me With Your Best Shot. It’s the 80s and she’s on fire. We’re glad she performed in 2021 after The Bowl took a concert season off due to the pandemic.

The Robert Cray Band – Right Next Door. It’s “funky, cool, and bad,” and he’s bringing it all to The Bowl. On Saturday, September 24, The Robert Cray Band is performing sounds that rise from American roots, blues, soul, and R&B. Over the past four decades, Cray has received five Grammy awards, produced 20 acclaimed studio albums, and recorded a bundle of live albums that landed him in the Blues Hall of Fame.

Travis Tritt – It’s A Great Day To Be Alive. It sure is, especially when you’re spending it in Sugar Hill at a Sugar Hill Live On Stage concert or when you’re listening to this playlist while working out at the E Center gym.

The Archies – Sugar, Sugar. The City of Sugar Hill turned 30-years-old when this song came out and the title is fitting for our sweet city.

Joan Jett – I Love Rock n Roll. We do too and loved having Joan Jett perform at The Bowl. It was a rockin’ time.

Michael Franti – Say Hey. We’re saying HEY to Michael Franti & Spearhead. Performing on August 27 at The Bowl, Michael Franti is bringing his high-energy, inspiring music and optimism to The Bowl.

Kool & The Gang – Celebration. It’s a celebration every time there’s an event in Downtown Sugar Hill. Sugar Hill has earned a reputation for bringing a variety of musical genres that appeal to every audience, young and old to The Bowl through our concert series, Sugar Hill Live On Stage.

Collective Soul – Shine. Take advantage of the SHINE District in downtown. Purchase an alcoholic beverage from Cantina Loca, Central City Tavern, Indio Brewing, Shine Pizza, or the Sugar Hill Distillery and ask for a SHINE to-go cup to take your drink anywhere within the SHINE District. You’ll be able to enjoy your food and drinks on the Promenade and West Broad St. without having to worry about finishing your drinks before you get to The Bowl.

Tank & The Bangas – Big. We’ll be announcing some BIG Sugar Hill Live On Stage concerts before you know it! Visit thebowlatsugarhill.com or follow us on social media @thebowlatsugarhill to be the first to know who’s performing next.
